2016 Download Type Updates

On December 15th, 2016 several download types were removed from the mixamo.com services to streamline the system and offerings.  You can read more about the changes on the Mixamo blog.  The downloads that were removed were

  • FBX for Unreal Engine 4
  • Source Filmmaker
  • Garry's Mod Ragdoll
  • Defense of the Ancients 2 Courier

 Character/Animation Settings

Pose

  • Available for character downloads.
  • TPose:  Enforces a strict T-Pose (1 frame animation clip).  This is useful for re-targeting animations in game engines.
  • Original Pose:  Retains the pose the character was in when uploaded.

Skin

  • Available for animation downloads.
  • With Skin: Includes the mesh, material, and textures with the animation.
  • Without Skin:  Removes the mesh, material and textures, providing only the animated skeleton.  This is preferred for most game engines so that you do not have to import your mesh/textures multiple times.

Frame Rate

  • Available for animation files.
  • You can choose between 24, 30, and 60 FPS.

Keyframe Reduction

  • Available for animation files.
  • None:  Retains original motion capture data with a key on every frame.
  • Uniform/Non-Uniform:  Reduce key frames by sampling the animation curves.  Uniform will reduce key frames across all channels while non uniform samples each channel separately.

Downloaded files are completely editable, so feel free to take them into any software you’d like and add new bones, adjust skin weights, repaint textures, or anything else that is needed.
