We bring in actors, actresses, mimes, and athletes into our motion capture studio. There, we put them in the motion capture suit and, capture motions such as jumping or samba dancing. The data is then cleaned up and targeted to a skeleton. We apply machine-learning algorithms directly from research from Stanford University onto the captured motions, which allows us to present “sliders” to the user so that they can customize the motions in real-time. We can apply motion to any character that the user uploads. It’s very intuitive and easy to use.

Is there any way Mixamo technology will be used in the future by big software (3DS Max, Blender, etc.) to improve the tech for retargeting animations?

Right now, it's horrible in every program, but Mixamo is absolutely stunning in its technology. You guys are far ahead of everyone else, and I'd love to see you sell the technology to big software (unfortunately, although I think this is wrong and bad for the Mixamo company) it would greatly benefit animation newbies (and professionals) everywhere :P

It's your technology, not your animations, that sold me. (Well, the animations are amazing, but they can be added to ANY rigg and work flawlessly, or auto-rigged...it is simply amazing!
