unity plugin won't load

unity plugin won't load
I'm on Vista 32, IE8. I was playing games with it up unitl a couple months ago. I'd love to get one of these skeltons back to my place for a good romp in Blender and Unity, but the plugin doesn't seem to like my browser any more. Tried registering the ocx manually, turn of firewall (vista FW not used, McAfee disable for install). Uninstall - re-install, remove leftover files manually, c:\users\(username)\appdata\Local - LocalLow etc... In IE8 managed add-ons it was enabled, gave full permissions. No log file in appdata\... Googled it for it 2 hours now, I'm not alone, but that doesn't help either. When I try Unity's plugin version page I get:
Unity Web Player Version
Unity Plugin version: undefined

actual version installed is: 2.6.1.3.1233

The only way we could reproduce an error similar to what you are having is by trying to install Unity on the 64 bit IE8. Unity doesn't seem to be supporting that configuration. Are you running 64 bit IE by any chance?

no just Vista ulitmate 32. I used my laptop at work on XP to try out a sample. It was working for a couple months with vista 32, probably some Vista or McAfee update killed it.

It sounds like you are having issue with all Unity applications, not just Mixamo, is that correct? Unfortunately we can not reproduce this problem here, which limits what we can do to help.

Did you try contacting Unity 3d support / forums for help?
