Hi guys,
Was looking at your strafe motions recently, and wanted to give you some feedback.
Here are some thoughts:
- Could really benefit from smoother motion in general, and at run speeds in particular. Either get someone who is good at this sort of thing in, or have your actor practice more, perhaps.
- For pistol position, there should always be at least some bend to both elbows. Firing a gun with your elbow locked is a bad call. Might be a useful effect, maybe, to indicate an amateur marksman, but better to lock that down than try to build in the absent bend, I’m guessing.
- Build in either more target coverage, or more singular target focus, or do both on a slider. Right now, there’s not enough active change of aim to indicate someone searching for a target, but there is too much change of aim to indicate someone focusing on a single target. In a game, aiming is going to be programmatic anyway, but for any other purpose, that would be a useful customization. The aiming issue is much more noticeable in the rifle stance.
- You probably want Left and Right to match better. The Right version is most noticeably (and problematically) different in the full rifle pose.
As always, hope that’s helpful,
->Cameron

Thanks for the feedback, this is good stuff to know. Next time we're captureing military motions I'll keep this in mind.
