Purchased anim within Unity does not work with other characters
Seemingly undocumented, I purchased my first animation from Mixamo's animation store from within Unity. I previewed on a character I downloaded for free from Mixamo's website (free Pro character). But it looks hardwired to that character. In other words, I can't apply this to other characters. Is this the case? if so, this is a show stopper. They don't work on the free characters Mia, Alexis, Joan. Any their animations don't work on the pro character I downloaded. Very very confusing and irritating. I don't want to invest hundreds of dollars in animation clips that only apply to one baked character. Crazy. Any ideas? I do notice that the pro character has a "master" child object where the joints reside whereas the free characters like Mia have a different layout where "Hips" is a child of the root object. However, I tried applying the purchased animation to another pro character I downloaded and it worked better, but was broken in that their T-pose was mostly fixed during the loop, so unusable in another character. Seems Mixamo's documentation is pretty minimal. Extremely unclear what you're buying, what you can apply these motions to, whether you can tweak the animations after purchase, etc. Any advice would be appreciated -- I'm a noobie!

teddis,
The animation store and the animation we provide work on the basic principles of current animation technology. Joints.
No matter what environment your using animations in, unless all the characters all share the same joint system or skeleton in both positioning, scaling and naming you will NOT be able to share animations across them.
When you buy an animation from the animation store the animation is applied to the joint system of that character and then written to a unity .anim file. this is a file type that holds the animation information unique to that skeleton. It holds joint skeleton hierarchy, keyframes and more.
The Pro characters do not share the same skeleton as the Mixamo characters like Mia. Also the Mixamo characters like Mia and Alexis have different joint naming. Mia will be mia:Hips and Alexis will be alexis:Hips even this minor changes will stop an animation from working.
There is no such thing as universal animation. There is currently no way to record animation in a format that can be applied to any skeleton without any human technological intervention.
Mixamo is as close to that as anyone as ever come. We are able to create animation from motion capture data and turn them into customizable motions you can then apply to ANY biped. However like I mentioned earlier the application of that animation is unique to that skeleton. As on our end we are retargeting the animation to the skeleton and then baking it onto it for you.
Simply put your buying animation. If you don't fully understand what this entails I highly recommend doing some reading on the subject of game creation on the side of art assets such as modeling, rigging and animation as this will better explain the concepts than I can in a single post.

I has this same question. So basically is there a way to gets the idle, run, walk animations from Jane to work with Mia and the others? Is it not possible to rename the joints of the other characters?
Without spending any money, how could I get those other characters animating?-
Please see my comment above.
Jane and Mia have two different skeleton structures so remaining won't do anything.
Without spending any money you'll have to animate the character's yourself. -
